As our rallying cry, "PPG Unleashed" is the theme of our exhibit at this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. It can be best characterized as an expression of our capabilities as we seek to further solidify our leadership position in providing products and services to the industry. It's also embraced as a motivational theme by our people who—never content with recent achievements—are ever vigilant in anticipating the needs of our collision and commercial customers and unleashing their expertise to create innovative solutions. The new DELFLEET ONE ™ paint system for commercial transport is a case in point. Its ultra-low VOC capabilities position this coatings system for the long haul, well before future legislative changes. On the services side, our MVP Business Solutions program is another great example of anticipating customer needs and unleashing innovation. Decades before KPIs and cycle time became everyday jargon in our industry, our MVP team led the way in establishing training and consultation services aimed to create continuous improvement at our customers' businesses. Since then, thousands of collision and commercial operations, such as Rod's Custom Body Shop profiled in this issue, have taken advantage of MVP program offerings and our industry- leading Lean for Collision teachings. Recognizing that our customers come in all kinds of flavors, PPG Unleashed also reflects our mission to provide a multitude of options to meet varying customer requirements and preferences. In the way of color tools, our best-in-class offerings give painters myriad options—like color decks, including decks for wheels and trim, for those who prefer a visual way to color match and a state-of- the-art spectrophotometer for those who want to take advantage of this leading technology. No other paint supplier does that—nor does any other company offer such a wide choice of coatings products to choose from. Rick Westerlund Director of Marketing, PPG USCA PPG UNLEASHED PPG FOUNDATION GRANTS The PPG Foundation has invested more than $1.5 million this year in 48 organizations to support educational and community sustainability programs throughout the U.S. The grants were to organizations in Pittsburgh, Penn.; Sylmar, Calif.; Cleveland, Ohio; and other cities where PPG has a local presence. "From hands-on educational workshops in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to programs that foster workforce development, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, PPG partners with organizations that provide a sustainable path forward for young people in our local communities," said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility. COLOR OF THE YEAR FOR PPG PAINT BRAND Chinese Porcelain has been named 2020 Color of the Year for the PPG paint brand. "As we look to 2020, we know that color is the trend," explains Dee Schlotter, senior color manager, PPG paint brand. "Consumers are tiring of stark grays and are looking to infuse colors that delight the senses. Blue is the easiest possible entry point from the world of neutrals to the world of color, and PPG's Chinese Porcelain delivers the energy and brightness of cobalt blue—a trending hue taking the automotive, consumer electronics and fashion industry by storm. It also incorporates a deep, muted navy tone that is popular in residential and hospitality design." INSIDE LINE 4
