Pierre-Marie de leener says he has
always loved what he does for a living.
that includes being chief executive officer
of sigmaKalon (acquired by PPG in 2008);
senior vice president, architectural coatings
for PPG's Europe, Middle East and Africa
(EMEA) region; president of PPG Europe;
and now executive vice president with
responsibility for PPG's global automotive
refinish coatings, protective and marine
coatings, and aerospace coatings
businesses—all positions that display a
passion for business.
But there's another passion in de leener's
life... racing cars. A longtime racing
enthusiast, de leener, and his son,
Adrien, 22, have been racing cars together
for the past two years.
the two attended the Ferrari driver
Academy in Fiorano, italy, graduated all
four levels of training, and earned
licenses for high-performance car racing
from the Fédération internationale de
l'Automobile, the Paris-based governing
body for world motor sport.
"once you have a racing license, you want
to use it," said de leener with a wide
smile. "Racing is physically challenging—
nearly an hour non-stop. it clears my mind
from work—you have to focus solely on the
track and the car.
