the result was PPG being anointed as the Goodguys' official paint sponsor. since then, the relationship has become a genuine partnership with the PPG Goodguys Nationals at its heart. "We've been tickled with PPG," said Meadors, Goodguys' founder and chairman. "over the years we've brought new users—guys who own hot rods or paint distributorships—into the PPG fold. We pride ourselves on being a first class group and that coincides with PPG's philosophy—first class all the way." While PPG and its show truck participate in many custom events throughout the year, it treats the Columbus Nationals as very special. Each year the PPG exhibit allows show attendees to meet and interact with some of the hot rod world's brightest stars, like custom builder and painter Charley Hutton, custom cycle icon dave Perewitz, and illustrator darrell Mayabb. PPG even created a special Deltron ® brand paint color, Goodguys yellow, for Meadors' 1929 Ford Roadster (the color is still available today). A recent survey of spectators and registered participants at Goodguys events affirms PPG's rightful place as "official paint sponsor." More respondents selected PPG as their paint of choice than all other paint companies combined. "Right from the start," said Ed Capen, Goodguys national sales director, "we knew it was good match." "i've always felt good about our partnership with PPG," adds John drummond, Goodguys communications director. "together we created the PPG dream Car awards that honor outstanding color, design, gloss, and execution of a paint job. seeing thousands of candy-colored cars all together, that's a sight. Choosing just two, that's a challenge!" this year the PPG Goodguys Nationals will take place July 6–8 in Columbus, ohio. Custom car lovers, make your plans now.
