if your wife's got a big birthday coming up, and you want to do
something special for her, you might consider doing what frank
latin did: find her first car, restore it, and surprise her with it
on her big day.
latin is the owner of frank's Auto body & restoration, inc., in
Madison, ohio. He got the idea of giving his wife suzi a 1967
Mustang for her birthday. but not just any '67 Mustang, it was her
Mustang, the first car she ever owned.
suzi had sold the car in 1988, but her father had the car's Vin.
latin searched a few websites and found the car's current owner,
who lived just an hour away. the owner had disassembled the
Mustang, hoping to restore it. latin bought the car, which was
literally in pieces, and brought it back to showroom condition in five
and a half months. latin sprang the surprise on her birthday. "she
was blown away!" says latin. "she couldn't believe i'd restored it
right under her nose."
the Mustang sports a rich night Mist blue paint job achieved with
deltron dbC basecoat and dCu2021 clearcoat. the car has since
won nine awards, including first in class at the detroit Autorama
and the outstanding paint Award at the Cleveland Autorama.
