PPG OFFICIAL PAINT SUPPLIER FOR WILLIAMS MARTINI RACING PPG's long-standing relationship with WILLIAMS MARTINI RACING continues into the 2015 Formula One season as the company has once again been selected as the official paint and coatings supplier to Frank Williams' resurgent team. To ensure that the team's requirements are continuously met, PPG's paint technicians work closely with those of Williams Martini Racing throughout testing to design, apply and monitor coatings that can provide a competitive edge. "They've managed to reduce the weight of the paint we use on the cars and every gram saved gives us the possibility of faster lap times," commented Founder and Team Principal Sir Frank Williams. PPG HOLDS SEMINAR FOR CUSTOM CAR BUILDERS PPG recently held an automotive custom restoration seminar at its Business Development Center in Wixom, Mich. The seminar drew professional custom builders, hobbyists and vocational technology students from across the country. Several notable custom car world celebrities also attended. These included Charley Hutton of Charley Hutton's Color Studio, Nampa, Idaho; Randy Borcherding of Painthouse, Cypress, Texas; Ryan Korek of Korek Designs, New Berlin, Pa., and the paint team from Detroit Speed, Inc., Mooresville, N.C. Instruction over the 3-day event covered the complete restoration refinish process, from surface preparation and undercoats to topcoats and clearcoats. While many of PPG's refinish products were discussed, the workshop focused on the popular VIBRANCE COLLECTION ® custom paint finishes and its many colors, micas, pigments and special effects that give painters exceptional latitude in creating dramatic paint schemes.
