PPG HELPS RESTORE A
POLICEMAN'S CORVETTE
A very special, restored 1984 Corvette was
unveiled recently at the National Corvette
Museum in Bowling Green, Ky.
The 'Vette belonged to Burke Rhoads, a
Kentucky police officer who was killed in
2015 while on duty. Rhoads was restoring
the car and promised his daughter that
she could drive it to her prom. Rhoads'
wife Melissa wanted to finish the project
and asked the museum for help finding
someone to paint the car. Instead,
the museum offered to complete the
restoration. Daniel Decker, museum
vehicle maintenance and preservation
coordinator, took charge. The Corvette
community, including Corvette Central and
members of the Bluegrass Corvette Club,
donated cash and parts. PPG contributed
the paint.
Final Finish, a PPG customer with collision
centers in Morgantown and Bowling
Green, Ky., painted the car. The owners,
brothers Eric and Chase Ingram, stepped
up, and painter Fernando Resendiz gave
the 'Vette its red finish using DELTRON
®
2000 DBC Basecoat and DCU2021
Urethane Clear.
