suggested she use an airbrush for her work. Shannon did and it was a good move. "I must've had a burning ember of art left inside me because that airbrush sparked a flame that drove me back to painting," she recalls. Shannon attended her first SEMA show in 2011. There, using Envirobase High Performance paint, she airbrushed a freehand portrait of Richard Petty on a Chrysler minivan. The crowd was impressed, and so were the people from PPG. They asked her to paint a guitar for SEMA 2012. Soon Shannon was using Envirobase High Performance products for all her work. "Envirobase High Performance products are so user-friendly and versatile, I can do almost anything," she says. "I use them on wood, canvas, metal, everything." Learn Advanced Airbrushing Techniques from the Expert Shannon MacDonald has partnered with PPG to teach a new Advanced Airbrushing Techniques course, designed to give airbrush artists a great opportunity to up their game. The Advanced Airbrushing Techniques course will debut July 17–18 at the PPG Business Development Center in Allison Park, Penn. The class will share Shannon's techniques for color mixing, creating warm and cool color effects, proper use of the electric eraser and X-ACTO knife as well as how to paint an ultra-detailed piece of art with solid colors. She'll also demonstrate the many advantages of using Envirobase High Performance waterborne basecoat for airbrush work. To register for the course, students must have completed the PPG Basic Airbrushing course. Cost is $300.
