"Impressive," a PPG-painted 1963 Chevy two-door station wagon, captured this year's Don Ridler Memorial Award, the ultimate honor in the custom car world. The sleek, sinister custom wagon is owned and was built by Brad Ranweiler and sons Brady and Cory of Show Cars Automotive Inc., in New Ulm, Minn. The Ranweiler's project began by transforming an unremarkable, red four-door wagon into a unique two-door model. Complementing its flawless metalwork is the wagon's power train. The iron block Chevy 409 engine, was revamped to 509 cubic inches, and matched to a General Motors 4L80E automatic transmission, all atop an Art Morrison chassis. The show winner's flawless finish— dubbed Impressive Black—was created with an array of DELTRON ® products, including CONCEPT ® DCC9300 Single Stage Acrylic Urethane Black and DCU2002 High Solids Polyurethane and DCU2021 Urethane Clearcoats. It was the first Ridler award for the Ranweiler family and the seventh time in 13 years that an entry painted with PPG products took the prize. 35 This spectacular 2014 Indian was built by Brian Klock and his team at Klock Werks in Mitchell, S. Dak., and painted by Pete "Hot Dog" Finlan of Hot Dog Kustoms, Temecula, Calif. Both Klock and Finlan are committed to standout work and it shows on this project. From its crazy-long tailpipes and up, there's no chance of ignoring this head-turning bike that represents "vicla" mode—the custom bike world's equivalent of Southern California's red-hot lowrider style. Finlan gave the Indian a spectacularly detailed finish. He opted for Stock Blue and graphics with a silver base plus shades of VIBRANCE COLLECTION ® Candy Blue. Next came silver leaf and pinstriping, all topped with VC5700 Clearcoat for a ready-to-rev look. IRRESISTIBLE INDIAN 2020 RIDLER WINNER WEARS PPG
