ed denkenberger and Roger
Alexander at Superior Autoworks in
Frederica, del., are passionate about
customizing cars. They've been
working together for 20 years turning
out flawless restorations and wild
custom builds. To give every car
maximum attention they limit the
number of projects they accept, and
since they're both "hands-on" kinds of
guys, they personally do almost every
bit of work on each car in their shop.
When Ronson and Teri burton of
Lewes, del., brought in their '63 Chevy
Nova SS convertible for a custom
frame-off restoration, ed and Roger
immediately saw the possibilities.
They rehabilitated and radically
customized the car with features like
a Chevy zz454 powertrain, 18-inch,
Schott Axiom wheels and a Paul
Atkins custom leather interior. They
topped it off with a wildly orange PPG
paint job and named the car Atomic
bomb. The vibrant Deltron
®
dbC
tricoat color was created with Atomic
Orange 914927 and Radiance
®
II burnt
Orange 908360-2 Translucent from
the Vibrance Collection
®
palette of
custom toners and dyes. The entire
package made for a stunning,
meticulously crafted creation that
reached the "Great eight" final round
of the prestigious Ridler Award
competition.
