ppG GALLery ONe SWeeT Ride Color can make or break a custom build. For this 1953 Cadillac Convertible, Chris Ryan, owner of Ryan's Rod & Kustom in Ninety Six, S.C., didn't think a sporty color was the way to go. "The Cadillac is flashy enough," he says. "i wanted a darker color to complement all the chrome." in the end, he chose PPG's Light Candy Root beer, which inspired a name for the vehicle, Root Beer Float. Sprayed with ViCO'S dReAM FULFiLLed This bedazzling '35 Ford Pickup reflects the craftsmanship found at Vico's Auto body Shop of Norristown, Penn., a customer of PPG finishes for more than 40 years. Co-owner Vico Cognata took possession of the pickup 20 years ago, and began the recently completed, in-house restoration some five years ago. The holographic-like, multi-hued PPG Deltron finish is comprised of several Vibrance Collection colors and effects: 24 Carat Gold, Topaz Green, PRizMATiqUe ® blue Prism and Fuchsia Prism. Deltron dbC basecoat and dCU2002 High Solids Polyurethane Clearcoat, this delicious finish is set off by a creamy tan interior that mimics the namesake drink's distinctive foam. Of course, anyone familiar with Chris Ryan's work knows he has a keen eye for color. As a matter of fact, he's a two-time winner of the PPG Outstanding Use of Color Award at the NSRA Nationals (2007 and 2011). 35
