they know the conditions. they will

the Bonneville speed trial is designed to
measure the average speed over the length
of one mile. on the international Course,
Jody had two and a half miles to get up to
speed before entering the one-mile timed
zone. on her final run, she entered going
199 and exited going 205, for an average of
203.11 mph. in fact, it took her a mere
17 seconds to go one mile. that not only
set a new record, it smashed the old one
by more than 40 mph.
When asked what it was like to fly across
the desert at over 200 miles an hour, Jody
just laughed. "it's fast. it's an adrenaline
rush. i was holding on so tight i could feel
my fingers coming through my fingernails,"
Jody said.

Watching her ride into the record book,
dave had complete faith in his daughter's
abilities. "Jody is extremely confident in
her riding ability. she never, at any point,
showed nervousness. she couldn't get
enough. that made a huge difference
with me."
Even with the mission accomplished, the
first Perewitz trip to Bonneville won't
be their last. Jody's goal this year is to
join the 200 MPH club—making two
consecutive runs over 201 mph. she'd be
only the third woman in the club. And once
again, PPG will be showing the true colors
of team J'Witz. "PPG is awesome to work
with for new custom ideas and paint,"
dave said. "i've always been on the
frontline with PPG."
