Armstrong, along with his partners Brad
Houk and Justin Burns, have built a
dazzling portfolio of work for Auto Art
studio, the customizing shop they founded
in Prescott, Ariz., in 2007. Meticulous
attention to detail is the hallmark of their
growing reputation. on a recent Camaro
project, Armstrong poured 500 hours into
the paint job alone. it also required nearly a
mile of tape to mask off the painstakingly
detailed graphics.
Armstrong is equally well known for his
outstanding airbrushing technique. on his
work you'll find life-like illustrations
intertwined with tribal design elements
and a striking color palette. it's one of
the most original styles you'll find on the
road anywhere.
For his high-profile projects, Armstrong
entrusts his vision to Deltron
®
dBC and
custom colors and effects from PPG's
Vibrance Collection
®
. "the paint works
perfectly," Charles said. "From spraying
solid color on a vehicle to doing graphics,
pinups or portraiture, i get to stay within
a complete system. it lends itself well
to what we do here."
this summer, Auto Art studio will be moving
over from Prescott to Phoenix. the move will
allow them to join the city's thriving custom
scene and continue to expand the shop.
