"DREAM CAR"
WINNERS
Two Chevys won the PPG Dream Car
awards at the 2014 Goodguys 17
th
PPG
Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. The cars,
a 1969 Chevy Camaro RS owned by
Angelo Vespi of St. Augustine, Fla.,
and a 1951 Chevy woody wagon owned
by Terry Henley of Birmingham, Ala.,
were judged the winners for their
outstanding use of color, design, gloss
and execution in a paint job. The PPG
award is among the most desirable in
the custom car world and reflects a
builder's dedication to finish excellence.
Detroit Speed, Inc., of Mooresville,
N.C., built Vespi's Camaro and gave the
car its winning finish using DELTRON
®
2000 DBC Basecoat, D8115 Matte and
D8117 Semi-Gloss Clearcoats. Colors
used were PPG Glacier White (932097),
New Formula Red (5638) and Universal
Black (9700).
Henley's '51 Chevy woody was
restored by Big Oak Garage in Hokes
Bluff, Ala. The Big Oak team used
Deltron DBC Basecoat and D8152
Glamour Clear to create the rich
Toreador Red (5096) finish.
HOT 'N COOL
PPG colors are so cool, they're hot.
Consider these furnace covers that
Mike Dusold of Dusold Designs,
Lewisville, Texas, designed and painted
for Rheem Manufacturing Company, a
maker of heating and cooling products.
The unique, colorful covers were part
of a Rheem marketing campaign.
While his main focus is on custom
cars and trucks, Dusold turned out 15
covers in six months using DELTRON
®
DMC Basecoat, DAS Sealer and DCU
2021 Clearcoat.
